For example.. here Indy has just dug up her treat and is trying to eat it in peace, while Gizmo howls/growls/moans.. he torments her so. I especially like the way he tries to stealthily crawl towards the treat so she won’t notice.

The 10 Commandments of a Dog

1. Remember BEFORE you adopt me that my life is likely to last 10-15 years
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It’s crucial for my well-being.
4. Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends. I have only YOU.
5. Talk to me everyday. Even if I don’t understand your words, I understand what is in your voice.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Remember that before you hit me that I have teeth that could crush the bones in your hand, but I CHOOSE not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old someday.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say “I can’t bear to watch it” or “take him to the back and end it”. EVERYTHING is easier for me if you are there. Any separation from you will be painful for me especially toward the end of my life.

I almost crashed laughing.

I buy these raw bones things from the doggie pet store, and usually split one between the two of them. I’ve found Gizmo tucks into his immediately and it keeps him busy for a few hours, but Indy goes and buries her half. Then she harasses Gizmo while he’s eating his.

Later, sometimes days and days later .. Gizmo finds the buried half. They’re typically rather stinky by this point and I think they’ve started rotting. Yup, ewwwww. He gets his paws and mouth covered in nasty gunk, and likes to jump all over me to express his gratitude. Ewwwww ..

Poor Gizmo had a nasty dose of some weird wart thing for a few months. They kinda came out of nowhere and he ended up with 3 or4 of them at once, most of them inside his mouth but one HUGE one outside on his lip.. as you can see from this pic.

Some dogs love baths. Most hate them .. these 2 pooches hate them with a vengence. I have to play with them a bit, do something like throw a towel over their head and pick them up and quickly carry them in and drop them in the tub before they realize. Otherwise they just kinda tense up and spread all their legs out and it’s hard to get them through the shower door.

I’d just given Gizmo a bath here too. Funny he’ll run into the ocean but freaks out in the shower. He goes nuts afterwards though, and Indy chases him while he rubs himself on any dry furniture/clothing/bedding, etc. to try and get drier.
